SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Fire erupted in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in northern Erbil province on Tuesday, blazing dozens of cabins inside the camp with no human loss.

Early Tuesday morning fire broke out at Harshm (IDP) camp in Erbil province which hosts nearly 1500 displaced people from Mosul and Sinjar who fled during the Islamic State terrorist group attack in 2014.

At least six cabins were burned down out of 292 cabins, but it did not cause any human loss, according to information Esta Media Network has obtained.

Esta has learned that the initial reports have shown electrical short as the cause of the fire breaking out.

Harsham’s fire incident mirrors repeatable incidents that recently occurred in Duhok more often, where at least six fires broke outs at IDP camps were reported since early 2022 while in some cases it caused severe damages and casualties.
