Islamic State militants kidnap Kurdish Shepheard in disputed territories

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Islamic State militants on Monday kidnaped a Kurdish shepherd in Qaratapa town, a disputed territory where the terrorists still operate.

Since late Monday evening the Islamic State militants have kidnaped a Kurdish Shepheard named Sabah Nuri, the victim was an occupant of Rzgary sub-district in Qaratapa town of Diyala governorate.

The eyewitness said Islamic State remnant militants kidnapped Nuri and he still remained missing up to this point.

Diyala or Qaratapa town, either of them is part of the disputed territories between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Federal government where a large scale of land plunged into a security vacuum since the Islamic State defeat in 2017.

Many terrorists are still operating in the disputed areas and used to build a significant number of hideouts as well as secret tunnels, utilizing to regroup, the area turned into a substantial security threat for both governments in which the terrorists sometimes freely move.
