SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said on Wednesday, “We strongly condemn targeting civilians as well as innocent people”.
In a message PUK’s president, Bafel Jalal Talabani strongly condemned the Turkish artilleries attack which targeted a touristic site in a resort located in Zakho district of Duhok Province on Wednesday.
The latest official report about the number of victims released by the Kurdistan Region health ministry showed, that 34 victims were reported as the result of the Turkish attack, and many of them are children, and women as well.
Nine Arab tourists were killed at least.
“Four boys, as well as four girls, are among the dead, along with a one-year-old baby,” The Region health ministry said.
“Most of the wounded are either crippled or faced severe injuries” it added.
Talabani said, “Our deepest condolences and sympathy are directed to the families of the victims and martyrs of Zakho’s incident, and we hope for the recovery of the wounded”.
“We condemn violating the Kurdistan Region and Iraq boundaries, repetition of the bombardments as well as Turkey’s attacks, and targeting innocent people civilians” Talabani stressed in the message.
“We call on the both Federal government and the Kurdistan Region to confront these unwanted incidents that pose a threat to the national security and stability of the people” he continued.
Talabani also added that “Confrontation and prevention of such attacks relates to national stance along with the unity of all sides, there must be a national consensus against these incidents”
