SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq has signed contracts with the United States and France to import advanced weapons and strengthen artillery, a senior military commander said in Sunday.
Major General Abdul al-Ardawy, a commander within the Iraqi defense ministry, told the state news agency (INA) that long-range artillery weapons had proved efficient in fighting Islamic State (ISIS) recently.
He further said new cannons were part of deals with European countries, according to INA.
The report did not elaborate on types of weapons or mention any other details on the contracts.
