SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A 27-year-old man died after a fire broke out at a displacement camp in the Kurdistan Region’s Zakho administration late on Wednesday, Esta Media Network reporter said.
The fire erupted in Chamshko camp for displaced people from Sinjar in Zakho administration, burning down three tents.
A man, Salah Jardo, was killed and seven others were wounded in the fire, the reporter said.
“An electrical fault caused the fire,” he added.
The camp was built in 2014 for Yazidis displaced after Islamic State (ISIS) militants took over Sinjar. It hosts about 5,000 Yazidi families.
It was the second incident that took place in the camp. In March, at least three tents were destroyed and two others seriously damaged at Chamshko camp.
In January, a six-year-old girl was killed in a fire that broke out at Esyan displacement camp in Sheikhan district.
