Kurdish counter-terrorism forces detain two “terrorists” in Kirkuk – statement

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region’s counter-terrorism group (CTG) said on Friday its forces detained two “terrorists” in Kirkuk city.

In a statement, the CTG said the two suspects were detained in a joint operation between its forces and Iraqi intelligence units.

Iraq’s security media cell said in a separate statement that the operation was carried out in cooperation with the counter-terrorism forces in Sulaimani.
“The two suspects were responsible for preparing explosive devices … and they were trying to carry out terrorist acts in the province during Eid al-Fitr,” it added.
