Kurdistan Region’s COVID-19 cases surpass 70,000, says health ministry

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s coronavirus cases surpassed 70,000 on Monday, according to the health ministry.

In a statement, the Region’s health ministry said it had registered 1,283 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the previous 24 hours.

The Region’s health ministry said it had recorded 486 infections in Erbil, 232 in Sulaimani, 452 in Duhok, 36 in Halabja, 12 in Raparin and 65 in Garmian.

The ministry of health stated that 23 new deaths were recorded in the Kurdistan Region. Six deaths were in Erbil, 11 in Sulaimani, two in Duhok, two more in Halabja and two others in Raparin.

As many as 333 more patients had recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the ministry added.

So far, the Region has logged 70,155 cases, of which 2,377 died and 40,434 recovered.
