Kuwait denies U.S. base targeted by three missiles

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kuwait denied reports on Saturday that the U.S. military base was targeted near the Jraischan border crossing with Iraq.

“The General Staff of the Army denies what was being circulated through various media outlets regarding three missiles crossing the Kuwaiti airspace, targeting the vicinity of an American base,” Kuwaiti Armed Forces said in a tweet.

Baghdad-based Sumaria TV reporter on Friday that three missiles targeted the U.S. military base near the Jraischan border crossing.

It said two missiles targeted the area surrounding the U.S. military base while the Third overshot the base and moved towards Kuwaiti lands.

Kuwait has a large U.S. military presence. The United States uses bases in Kuwait as staging hubs, training ranges and logistical support for regional operations.

Bases used by the United States include Camp Arifjan, Camp Buehring, Ali Al Salem Air Field and the naval base Camp Patriot, according to Al Arabiya.
