SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A judge in Sulaimani on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for former general director of health for involvement in corruption.
A judge at the integrity investigative court in Sulaimani ordered the arrest of Dr. Miran Mohammed Abbas, the former general director of health in Sulaimani, in accordance with Article 15 of the law of the commission of integrity.
The arrest warrant was over involvement in “corruption, laundering of cheques and spending contractors’ cheques, which were not suitable for spending and were market cheques,” the court said.
“They were purchased by half price and were spent in cash with the support of the accused,” it added.
“According to law, it is considered as a crime and it is the use of power and post for illicit gains.”
