Twelve patients died from coronavirus in Kurdistan Region: health ministry

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region recorded 12 new deaths from coronavirus on Monday, bringing the death toll to 3,799, according to the health ministry.

In a statement, the ministry of health said three patients had died in Erbil, three more in Sulaimani, four in Duhok and two others in Garmian.

The ministry recorded 1,158 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 133,428, it added.

As many as 194 cases were in Erbil, 294 in Sulaimani, 555 in Erbil, 20 in Halabja, 78 in Garmian and 17 more in Raparin, the statement read.

Up to 460 patients had recovered from the virus.

Kurdish health officials have warned that the Kurdistan Region is facing a “dangerous phase” of the coronavirus pandemic, urging people to follow the health guidelines designed to curb the virus spread.
