Kurdistan Region reports 769 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total to 55,156

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region reported 769 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Saturday, bringing the total number to 55,156.

The Region’s ministry of health said in a statement that it had recorded 217 new infections in Erbil, 215 in Sulaimani, 25 in Garmian, 286 in Duhok and 26 in Halabja.

The health ministry added that it had registered 19 new deaths in Erbil, Sulaimani, Duhok and Halabja in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 1,968.

As many as 416 more patients had recovered from COVID-19, taking the total number to 34,544, according to the ministry’s figures.
