SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation is expected to visit Baghdad again on Sunday for more talks on the Region’s share of the federal budget for 2021.
The delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani will hold talks with Iraqi parliament’s factions and committee of finance, Talabani’s spokesman Samir Hawrami said.
“The delegation will meet with the committee of finance and the political blocs in the Iraqi Council of Representatives to discuss the Region’s financial entitlements in the federal budget bill, which is expected to become a law in the coming days,” Hawrami told Esta Media Network.
The KRG delegation visited Baghdad last Sunday and held several meetings with the committee of finance, parliament’s presidency and Iraqi President Barham Salih.
The delegation is attempting to fix its December agreement with the federal government in the draft federal budget law for 2021. The Region’s share is set at 12.67%.
Talabani who led a high-level delegation to Baghdad said in December that the KRG and the federal government had reached an agreement over the 2021 federal budget bill, approved by the Iraqi Council of Ministers in the same month.
The draft budget law commits the Kurdistan Region to export 250,000 barrels of oil per day through Baghdad in exchange for the Region’s share of the budget.
