SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Two delegations from the Kurdistan Region will visit Baghdad next week, a Kurdish minister said on Thursday.

Minister of Planning Dara Rashid told reporters that a Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation and a political delegation would visit Baghdad on Saturday.

Deputy leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Nechirvan Barzani will lead the political delegation to Baghdad, Rashid added.

The political delegation will also include leaders from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Change Movement, he continued.

“We hope we can reach an agreement with the federal government over handover of 250,000 barrels of oil per day and 50% of internal revenue in exchange for the Region’s share of the federal budget,” Rashid said.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said a KRG delegation would visit the Iraqi capital next week, but did not provide further details.

KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani who led a high-level delegation to Baghdad said in December that Erbil and Baghdad had reached an agreement over the 2021 federal budget bill, approved by the Iraqi Council of Ministers in the same month.

The draft budget law commits the Kurdistan Region to export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad in exchange for the Region’s share of the federal budget, which is set at 12.67%.

Talabani also said in December that the KRG would export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad once the federal budget was adopted by the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
