SULAIMANI – (ESTA) The Agricultural Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced that the price of wheat in the silos will be the same as the price set by the Iraqi government، and this year we have more than three million acres of land planted with wheat.
“We will meet with the Iraqi Minister of Commerce and officials tomorrow، and we have a message that we will no longer accept the treatment of farmers in the region and must be treated like other provinces،” said Begard Talabani، Minister of Agriculture of KRG.
“There were excuses that we didn’t have a proper survey، but this year we have done a scientific survey، and we have more than three million acres of land planted with wheat، and I am optimistic that we will reach an agreement،” she said.
Also، she mentioned، “The price of wheat will be the same as the price announced by the Iraqi government and will be 850،000 per ton، while we have not allowed a single grain of wheat to be imported،” he said.
About those dams that were planned to be built، Talabani said، “Four strategic dams have been approved in the Kurdistan Region، and we have coordinated with the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources، and we are waiting for an official letter.
