Peshmerga killed, three wounded in explosion in Amedi district

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Peshmerga was killed and three others were wounded in an explosion in Amedi northeast of Duhok on Wednesday, Esta Media Network reporter said.

The reporter said a bomb hit a vehicle belonging to the Peshmerga forces in Chamanke sub-district in Amedi at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Four members of the Peshmerga forces were wounded in the blast, the reporter added. One of the Peshmerga succumbed to his injury before arrival to a hospital in the district.

It is still unclear who planted the bomb in the area.

Recently, tensions have been high between the Region’s authorities and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has positions on the Kurdistan Region’s border area with Turkey, where Turkish army sporadically bombs suspected PKK positions.
