The remains of 41 Yazidis returned to their homeland

SULAIMANI – (ESTA) The remains of 41 Yazidi citizens returned to their homeland today after being found in mass graves.

In the monument of the Yazidi Martyrs, the remains of 41 Yazidi citizens who were kidnapped by ISIS fighters and buried in mass graves were handed over to their relatives and will be buried in their hometowns.

Twenty of the remains are from Kojon, 16 from Hardan, three from Qne, and two from Khanasur.

After the attacks by ISIS on the border of Sinjar in August 2014, some of the kidnapped people were killed and buried in 92 mass graves. So far, 55 graves containing 242 bodies have been excavated.
