SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Friday reaffirmed his party’s unwavering commitment to providing support to the Yazidi community in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
In a congratulatory message commemorating the Yeazdis’ week-long Jama feast, Talabani extended his sincerest wishes and congratulations to the community.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my Yazidi brothers and sisters on the occasion of the Jama feast. It is my hope that you may experience happiness and joy during this celebration,” Talabani said.
He further emphasized that “the PUK has consistently endeavored to safeguard the rights of the Yazidi people, facilitate the reconstruction of Sinjar, ensure a dignified standard of living, and foster a culture of peace and coexistence.”
Annually, in early October, Yazidis congregate at the sacred Lalish Temple to partake in religious rituals and ceremonies in observance of the Jama feast.
The timing of this festival coincides with the arrival of autumn, during which Yazidis fervently pray for abundant rainfall in the forthcoming winter to ensure a prosperous harvest in the spring and summer seasons.
