Iraqi PM Meets with French President’s Advisor to Discuss Macron’s Visit to Iraq

On Wednesday, Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani held a meeting with Patrick Durel, who serves as the Advisor for Middle East and North Africa Affairs to the French President.

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani on Wednesday met with Patrick Durel, the Advisor for Middle East and North Africa Affairs to the French President.

During the meeting, Durel expressed his condolences to the Iraqi government and its people for the tragic fire incident in Al-Hamdaniyah District. He also conveyed his hopes for peace for the victims and a speedy recovery for the injured, the state-run INA reported.

The discussion primarily revolved around the upcoming visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Iraq, according to the report.

Both parties explored the potential for enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and France in line with the comprehensive strategic agreement signed between the two nations. Key areas of focus included investment, the economy, energy, and environmental cooperation.
