Death Toll Climbs in Iraq’s Hamdaniyah Fire

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The death toll from the catastrophic accident at a party hall in Hamdaniyah has tragically risen to 122, according to the latest update from the health department of the Nineveh province on Thursday.

The department also announced that a total of 20 individuals have been sent abroad for specialized treatment, highlighting the severity of their conditions. Additionally, three other wounded victims are now prepared for overseas medical care.

Meanwhile, 12 individuals remain hospitalized, receiving vital care in various medical facilities. Among the injured, seven are currently receiving treatment in the cities of Erbil and Duhok.

A devastating fire broke out in Iraq’s Hamdaniyah District on Sep. 26 night, resulting in a tragic loss of life. The incident, believed to have been caused by fireworks, has raised serious concerns about negligence.

The fire broke out at a wedding party, claiming the lives of 122 people and leaving nearly 200 others injured.
