Iraqi Prime Minister says visit to Germany was ‘fruitful’

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The visit to Germany was “fruitful,” said the Prime Minister of Iraq on Saturday following an official visit to the country

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani had been in Germany since last Thursday, where he met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in the German capital, Berlin.

Sudani also met with a number of German officials and signed a memorandum of understanding with Germany’s Siemens Energy company.

Siemens Energy plans to boost its cooperation with Iraq in the coming years, the company said on Friday, as its CEO inked a deal with the Iraqi government to develop the country’s power network.

“In the coming years, Iraq will invest considerably in its energy infrastructure,” said German Economy Minister Robert Habeck, who attended the signing of the MoU in Berlin together with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
