SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A devastating fire broke out in Iraq’s Hamdaniyah District last week, resulting in a tragic loss of life. The incident, believed to have been caused by fireworks, has raised serious concerns about negligence.

In a devastating incident that shook the Hamdaniyah district, Mosul, a fire broke out at a wedding party, claiming the lives of 107 people and leaving 82 others injured.

The committee of inquiry, tasked with investigating the incident, has revealed that the fire was “ignited by fireworks.”

Lieutenant Saad Faleh, the head of the Hamdaniya incident investigation committee, addressed the media in a press conference, shedding light on the causes behind this horrific incident.

He stated that the fire originated from fireworks, which were being used during the event. Additionally, the committee discovered that a significant portion of the hall was adorned with satin fabric, a highly flammable material.

Moreover, a large quantity of alcohol was present in the hall, further exacerbating the situation.

Lieutenant Faleh did not shy away from pointing out the negligence on the part of the hall staff. He revealed that the escape doors were closed, rendering them useless in the face of the raging fire.

Furthermore, safety measures were found to be non-existent within the hall, contributing to the high number of casualties. In light of these findings, the committee has called for the removal of the governor, mayor, and electricity director of the district.

They believe that these officials should face legal consequences for their negligence, which resulted in such a catastrophic loss of life.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working tirelessly to provide support and assistance to the victims and their families.

The community mourns the loss of those who perished in this tragic incident and hopes for a swift and thorough investigation to prevent such disasters from occurring in the future.
