SULAIMANI (ESTA) — An organization affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on Tuesday rejected the Kurdistan Region’s Security Council’s accusations regarding an explosion in Erbil.

In early September this year, a bomb exploded on a pedestrian bridge in the Kurdistan Region’s Erbil, causing no casualties, on the 60-meter road.

Last Sunday, the Kurdistan Region’s Security Council accused Tavagari Azadi, a PKK-linked organization based in the Region, according to a statement.

“The incident was a terrorist act committed by Zalil Jalil Khalaf, a member of Tavgari Azadi, a PKK-linked group,” the Council’s statement said.

“The perpetrator is from Sulaimani province’s Chamchamal district, to where he had returned following the act,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Tavagari Azadi blamed the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for the accusations against the PKK-linked group, saying September’s explosion was a “fabricated scenario” of the KDP, it said in a release.

“The KDP wants to divert the Kurdistan Region’s people’s attention from the current crises and mislead the public,” it said.
