Deputy Prime Minister says Kurdistan to not survive if division prevails

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Wednesday urged unity among the Kurdish house amid the ongoing Baghdad-Erbil political infighting.

“The Kurdistan Region and the Kurdish people in general are facing threats and severe pressures from multiple sides,” Talabani said.

“It’s impossible for the Kurds to survive these threats and pressures if the status quo continues between the Kurdish political parties,” he warned.

Talabani also revealed that the ultimate solution before the Kurds and the Kurdistan Region in this dire situation is coming back to wise policies, according to his words.

“We should initially address the internal disputes within the Kurdish house immediately,” he continued.

“If we stay divided we fall.”

Talabani’s words came amid a meeting yesterday with the Korean Republic’s outgoing Consul General in the Region, Cho Kijoung.

Both sides exchanged farewell words upon the completion of the Korean diplomat’s term in office, Talabani’s office said.
