PUK President calls on youths to wield influence in his party’s affairs

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Monday called on Kurdish youths to wield influence in his party’s affairs to serve Kurdistan and the young community.

PUK’s Talabani who recently embarked on a visit to Kirkuk City, met with multiple youths, artists, and athletes in the city, according to his press office on Tuesday.

“The skills and abilities of Kirkuk youths have been long felt by the PUK, we always wanted you to play a pivotal role in improving all aspects of life and secure a much more stable life for you,” Talabani said.

Talabani also pointed out that “the PUK is the party of youths,” and called on all youths to come and play a role in his party to serve Kurdistan and the young community, especially Kirkuk, according to his words.

He also referred to the history of coexistence in the ethnically-mixed Kirkuk city, saying “It has a long history”.

“We should all together foster the spirit of peace,” he said. “Everyone should live in peace and stability in the City,” he added.

He further pointed out the political disagreements and conflicts between the Kurdish political parties, calling to avoid Kirkuk from being harmed by the inter-party conflicts.

“The disagreements should not harm the Kurdishness of the Kirkuk, our priority should be safeguarding the right of Kurds, including the rest of components,” Talabani noted.
