PUK President says they don’t want to make decisions outside of national consensus

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Tuesday reiterated that they don’t want to make decisions outside of the national consensus.

Talabani’s words were amid a meeting with the Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in the Kurdistan Region, Arshak Manoukian.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed enhancing Kurdistan-Armenia relations in the frame of common interests.

They also discussed the Kurdistan Region’s overdue parliamentary elections, where Talabani pointed out the PUK’s efforts to maintain the unity of Kurds.

“We have full faith in coordination and joint work,” Talabani said. “We don’t want to make any decisions outside of the national consensus,” Talabani added.

In the meantime, Talabani stated that they are in touch with the political parties to remove the obstacles in the political process, according to his words.

“We want to provide a suitable groundwork for the upcoming elections,” he continued.
