SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is taking steps to eliminate “bureaucratic obstacles” for entrepreneurs in the Region, said Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Friday.

The deputy premier participated in the Global Entrepreneurship Week, organized by Vim Foundation in collaboration with Mesopotamia Organization in the city of Sulaimani.

“I was inspired by the young women and men entrepreneurs at @vimfoundation’s #GEWKurdistan event in Sulaimani,” Talabani said in a tweet.

“We are taking steps towards eliminating bureaucratic obstacles, making it cheaper, faster and easier for them to set-up, startup and thrive,” he tweeted.

The Kurdish deputy prime minister also said during a panel at the event that the Kurdistan Region “is filled with great ideas and capable people.”

“I am happy that the future of my nation is bright,” he added.

Regarding gender balance, Talabani said the cultural obstacles had prevented women from working after they graduated from university.

“However, there are still women working beside men in many places, and having their own vision and job,” Talabani added.

On Thursday, Deputy Director of Vim Foundation Ahmed Najm told Esta Media Network that the foundation aimed to culturize entrepreneur through such activities in the Kurdistan Region.

Projects from 100 youths would be displayed during the event, Najm noted, adding that the foundation aimed to support 1,100 youths in one year.

The Vim Foundation would continue to hold the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Sulaimani annually, according to foundation’s deputy director.
