SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq has reduced the number of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) civil servants in the newly passed budget law, according to a lawmaker on Friday.

“In the first draft of the federal budget bill, the number of KRG civil servants has been reduced from 682,021 to 681,979,” the member of the Iraqi parliament finance committee, Jamal Kochar, told Esta Media Network via a phone conversation.

In the meantime, “In the second draft of the federal budget bill, the number of KRG civil servants has been reduced to 658,000, which means 23,000 civil servants have been removed,” Kochar said.

Kochar also added that a deal has been signed with the parliamentary speaker in order to address this “problem”.
