Prime Minister Sudani underlines Iraq’s ‘potential’ to be industrialized country

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized on Wednesday that his country plans to stop relying on oil as the sole revenue source.

Iraq, OPEC’s second-largest producer after Saudi Arabia, depends on oil sales for more than 90% of its public budget.

“Iraq should not rely on oil any longer,” the Prime Minister said amid a meeting with a delegation from the US-Iraq Business Council.

“Iraq has the potential to be an industrialized country due to its strategic location,” He said.
