SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Kurdish family in the city of Erbil pleaded for justice for their young son who had been killed by a police officer in cold blood.

A police officer who is the brother of Omed Sabah, a high-ranking member of the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), with two other gunmen killed a young man following a road rage.

The incident occurred last Tuesday in Erbil’s 120 meters street, police said, adding, one of the suspects involved in the incident has surrendered to the law.

The victim was shot twice in his heart by the police officer, his brother Rushdi Ibrahim Saeed spoke to Esta Media Network on Wednesday said.

“We found our son at the forensic medicine, he was killed in cold blood,”  Saeed added. “We do not want the case to be misled as many had been.”

Esta Media Network made a new request on Thursday for comment from Saeed to obtain the latest information on his brother’s case, however, he refused to comment.

The victim’s family has been threatened and received an ultimatum from Erbil authorities to not further speak to the media outlets. They have been informed that the council of ministers would handle the case, Esta has learned.

In the meantime, a source close to the victim’s family on Thursday said that “a government senior official attempts veiling the case and address it outside of the law.”
