SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Sohaila Qazi Mohammed, the daughter of the president of the Kurdistan Republic, passed away at 89.
The short-lived Kurdistan Republic was declared independence on January 22, 1946, in its capital in Mahabad, northern Iran.
It was founded by Kurdish leader Qazi Mohammed who also later became the President of the first-ever Kurdish Republic.
The republic lived for only 11 months. It dissolved in December 1946 after the Iranian forces enter the capital, putting an end to the Kurdish state by repression.
On Saturday, the eldest daughter of Qazi Moahhmed, Sohaila, died at 89 in Germany.
It’s still unclear where she will be laid to rest.
