PUK President meets with well-known veteran artist Badi’a Dartash

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President, Bafel Talabani, on Thursday received a well-known veteran artist, Badi’a Dartash in Sulaimani’s Dabashan area.

In a meeting, the two sides discussed the situation of art and artists in the Kurdistan Region, where Dartash elaborated on several suggestions to address the issues and develop the various fields of Kurdish art, said a readout from Talabani’s office.

In the meantime, the PUK President thanked Dartash for her endeavors and service that she has offered to Kurdish art for more than a half-century, according to the readout.

“We are in debt to you for your self-dedication and hard work,” Talabani told Dartash.

Talabani also handed a flower bouquet to Daratsh in respect to her service to Kurdish art.

Moreover, regarding the suggestions that Dartash offered in the meeting to improve the art situation the PUK President extended his and the PUK’s support to the artists, saying, “Kurdistan owns a rich artistic legacy,” adding “We are proud of it and we should improve it more.”

“The PUK had supported you in the past and it will continue to support you in the future,” Talabani stressed in solidarity with the Kurdish artists.

On Feb, 11 this year, Talabani also met with a group of well-known Kurdish artists in Dabashan and promised to form a dedicated council from the various artistic fields to develop Kurdish art.
