Two detained over Islamic State propaganda promotion on Social Media: Asayish

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Sulaimani directorate of security forces (Asayish) detained two over suspected links with the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group on Wednesday in the province, after they promoted IS-linked propaganda on Social media networks. 

In a statement received by Esta Media Network, Asayish said, it detained two suspects in Bazian town, located southwest of Sulaimani city.

The suspects were detained for publishing and promoting Islamic State propaganda on social media networks, according to the statement.

“One of the detainees on his personal account on Facebook posted Islamic State slogans and promotions and the other bided his support,” it said.

The detainees held Kurdish nationality both of them are residents of Bazian town.

Asayish reassured the Kurdistan Region citizens that it monitors all groups and criminals that stand against freedom, security, and the rule of law, and all of them would face prosecution.
