Deputy prime minister receives delegation from U.S. Senate

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Deputy of the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Qubad Talabani received a delegation from the United States Senate on Thursday in Erbil, where he discussed the internal situation of the Region and the reform process within government institutions.

“In the meeting, the virtualization of the government institutions was importantly discussed that has been worked on for more than eight years,” read a statement from the deputy premier’s office.

Speaking on tackling routine and corruption issues within the government institutions and promoting transparency, the deputy prime minister said, “In the near future we will announce a new stage of the virtualization of the government,” he said, according to the statement.

Other parts of discussions touched upon the ways of reforms improvement within the Peshmerga forces, the office in the statement added.

Moreover, they also discussed the political situation inside the Kurdistan Region and Erbil-Baghdad relations.

“The deputy prime minister stressed addressing the disagreements through discussion for the sake of protecting the public interest.”
