Erbil police arrest Iranian suspect for possession of counterfeit cash

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Turkey-based Iranian suspect was arrested in Erbil for possession of U.S. dollar cash in counterfeit, police on Saturday said.

“The suspected held 12000$ in counterfeit that police confiscated,” read a statement from the general directorate of Erbil police, adding that further investigations have been initiated, handing the suspect to the judiciary.

The police statement did not offer further details.

In late December last year, Police arrested three suspects in Sulaimani who had 19500$ in counterfeit, attempting to use the illicit money in the market.
