Garmian Asayish arrests Iraq-based car theft gang

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Garmian Security Forces (Asayish) had arrested an Iraq-based car theft gang, according to a statement on Thursday.

“After collecting precise information four suspects that were charged with stealing cars were arrested,” read a statement from Garmian Asayish, adding “The suspects operated in the southern Iraqi provinces and had brought the stolen cars to sell them in the Kurdistan Region.”

All of the suspects were from Baghdad among which two of the suspects had criminal records, according to the statement.

The suspects are currently held in the Asayish’s custody and further investigations have been initiated.
