PUK President meets with chairman of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President, Bafel Talabani, on Tuesday met with the chairman of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), Falih al-Fayyadh, on Tuesday in Baghdad.

Talabani who is in the Iraqi capital had conducted a series of meetings earlier on Monday with Iraqi officials.

In a meeting, Talabani and Fayyadh discussed the political and security situation of the country, according to a readout from the PUK president’s office.

The two sides stressed the endurance of coordination to succeed in the Iraqi government agenda and further support of the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi security forces for the sake of protecting stability in the area, the readout added.

“Our previous efforts to protect the people’s life had delightful results,” Talabani said.

Moreover, the Kurdish leader also extended words of gratitude to the PMF for offering aid to the victims of the massive Turkey and Syria earthquake that struck the two countries last week, killing over 30,000 people.
