SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdish Peshmerga forces defused a bomb in the Garmaser frontline, according to a statement of Friday.
The Ministry of Peshmerga said its 17th Brigade infantry unit recovered an “old” bomb following a search operation in the area of the frontline.
The Bomb was discovered in Qori Cha village, however, the Peshmerga Ministry bomb disposal unit defused the bomb before it causes any casualties, the statement said.
The bomb most likely belonged to the Islamic State (ISIS) militants.
ISIS controlled roughly a third of Iraq between 2014 and 2017. However, the Iraqi forces and Kurdish troops backed by U.S.-led Coalition forces as well as Iran-backed Shia militias defeated the group in 2017.
