SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Two police officers were killed late Tuesday in Kirkuk in a suspected terrorist attack, police said.

The officers were killed in a drive-by shooting in the north of Kirkuk’s Jabal Bor village, according to police.

Police said they suspect it was a terrorist attack. No perpetrator has been arrested yet.

In the meantime, there was no immediate claim from any groups for the attack.

Investigations have been initiated into the incident to find the suspects, police added.

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror group is capable of carrying out such hit-and-run attacks which recently witnessed escalation by the group whose members are still roaming in the disputed territories between the Kurdish and Iraqi governments despite its territorial defeat in 2017.
