IED blast in Kirkuk leaves 4 children injured: reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — At least four children were injured in an explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Kirkuk late Sunday night, Esta reporter said. 

The incident happened at around 2330 local time. According to the reporter, the blast injured four children in the Kirkuk Moosalh neighborhood.

It is suspected that the children hit the ‘new object’ with a stone or played with the explosive out of curiosity, according to the reporter’s words.

No further information is available on whether the IED was freshly planted or was a long-old remnant.

In the meantime, No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Kirkuk’s Security personnel reached the incident site soon after the explosion, they have begun to investigate the incident, the reporter said.
