PUK President, head of Iraqi Turkmen Front discuss Kurd-Turkmen ‘historic’ relations

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Talabani, and the head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, Hasan Turani, on Monday discussed the “historic” relations between Kurd and Turkmen.

Talabani who is in the Iraqi capital met with Turani, said the media office of the PUK President.

In a meeting, the pair discussed the “historic” relations of Kurd and Turkmen, stressing improving and deepening the body of coexistence and harmony, in particular, in the city of Kirkuk, the office added.

Discussions also touched upon the situation and developments in Kirkuk, during which the two laid emphases on unifying efforts to normalize the Kirkuk’s situation and strengthening the relations between Kurd, Turkmen, and Arab as well as other components, in a manner that serves the city’s stability and coexistence.

Moreover, during the meeting, Talabani explained the PUK’s stance and its efforts regarding the city of Kirkuk, according to the statement.

“Our goal is to preserve the spirit of unity, mutual acceptance and serve the people of Kirkuk,” Talabani told Turan.
