SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi and French officials on Saturday discussed the file of the notorious Syrian al-Hol camp and cooperation in the fight against terror, Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji received the French ambassador to Baghdad, Eric Chevalier, INA said.
In a meeting, the Iraqi and French officials discussed “the political and security situation, at regional and international levels, as they emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation and partnership between Baghdad and Paris in the field of Counter-Terrorism in addition to exchanging information and expertise.”
Moreover, the Iraqi Adviser stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and partnership between Baghdad and Paris in the field of Counter-Terrorism.
They also discussed, “the file of the Syrian al-Hol camp and the importance of ending this sensitive file, to support efforts to Counter-Terrorism for the stability of the region and the world,” according to INA.
Located in northeastern Syria, in Hasekeh governorate, al-Hol houses tens of thousands of women and children. It is a desert camp run by Syrian Kurdish forces for 60,000 people from more than 60 countries, holding those who have a suspected link to the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group.
