SULAIMANI (ESTA) —  Two rockets targeted a U.S. patrol base in northeastern Syria but did not result in any injuries or damage to the base, the U.S. military said on Friday.

U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces visited the origin site of the rockets and found a third unfired rocket, the U.S. military said in a statement.

The base was located in al-Shaddadi, Syria.

U.S. forces first deployed in Syria during the Obama administration’s campaign against Islamic State, partnering with a Kurdish-led group called the Syrian Democratic Forces. There are about 900 U.S. troops in Syria, most of them in the east.

U.S. troops have been coming under rocket fire in Syria since September this year, in apparent retaliation for U.S. air strikes against Iran-aligned militia in Syria and Iraq, however, non of them resulted in series damages.

Iran-backed militias have established a foothold in Syria while fighting in support of President Bashar al-Assad during the country’s 11-year-long war.
