Top diplomatic missions condole for deadly gas explosion

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Top diplomatic missions on Friday separately expressed their condolences over Sulaimani’s deadly gas cylinder explosion. 

An LPG gas cylinder explosion on a three-story house on Thursday night in Kaziwa neighborhood killed at least 15 people and injured 12 others who were members of one family.

the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and the US and Canadian embassies, expressed condolences in separate statements after for tragic gas explosion in the city.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the horrific gas tank explosion in Sulaymaniyah that resulted in many casualties. We pay condolences to the families of those who died, wish the injured a speedy recovery, and salute rescuers for their relentless efforts,” said UNAMI.

In the meantime, US Ambassador to Iraq Alina L. Romanowski also condoled for the same incident, saying “Our sincere condolences for the tragic loss of life from the gas tank explosion in Sulaymaniya,” she said.

“Our sympathies go out to the families of the victims. We wish a full recovery to the injured and send our sincere appreciation to the rescue workers,” she added.

“I offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of those killed and injured by the tragic gas explosion yesterday evening in Sulaymaniyah,” Canadian Ambassador to Iraq Gregory Galligan tweeted.
