PUK President compensates victims of Sulaimani gas explosion

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani Friday decided to compensate all of the victims of Thursday’s night Sulaimani gas cylinder explosion.

An LPG gas cylinder of a house exploded in Sulaimani’s Kaziwa neighborhood, leaving 15 people dead and 12 others injured who were members of one family, gathering in the house for a family dinner on Thursday night, resulting in the structural collapse of their three-story house.

Despite expressing his deepest sorrow for the tragic gas explosion, Talabani decided to compensate all of the victims of the incident, his office said.

“President Talabani decided to pay for rebuilding the crumbled house and the renovation of all damaged buildings in the area of the tragic Sulaimani incident,” it said in a statement.

Moreover, he also decided to provide the expense for any victims who require to receive treatment abroad at the cost of Talabani’s office.

Apart from this, Talabani will also be in charge of this “national mourning” to manage the funeral of the victims who died in this tragic incident, tasking his representatives to coordinate with the victims’ families and Sulaimani administration units.

Moreover, for the residents whose vehicles were damaged in the area of the explosion, President Talabani will compensate them, according to his office.
