SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday condemned renewed Iranian attack on the Kurdistan Region which killed two and left ten others wounded.
“The attack on the Kurdistan region is a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty,” Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said.
Hussein’s words were in the midst of a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Abdollahian, the Iraqi news agency (INA) said.
The minister expressed Iraq’s position regarding the strikes that hit multiple locations in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, by the Iranian side, causing casualties between martyrs and wounded, according to the INA.
The officials have disused the Importance of dialogue as a way to stop this unjustified hostile escalation. And further described the continuation of these unilateral acts as dangerous.
In the morning hours of Monday, Iranian drones and missiles once again targeted Kurdish opposition bases in the Region, with the latest reports saying at least two were killed and ten others wounded.
Semi-official Iran’s Fars News agency said the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had been behind the attack, which it said targeted “terrorist groups” with missiles and drones.
Iran has repeatedly attacked Kurdish opposition bases in the Kurdistan Region, blaming the opposition militants for inciting the ongoing unrest which has gripped the country since the death of Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini on September 16.
At least 13 people were killed and over 50 injured back in September this year during similar events for which IRGC officially claimed responsibility.
