SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s Minister of Migration suspended Iraqis’ repatriation from notorious Syria’s al-Hol detention camp on Tuesday which houses tens of thousands of women and children linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) group.

Iraqis will be no longer repatriated from the al-Hol camp unless the ministry finds a “suitable” approach and further prepare itself, Minister Ivan Faiaq said.

Her words were amid a meeting with the Iraqi parliament committee of defense and security, according to local media.

She also stressed that only the security institutions are involved in the scrutinization process of the Iraqi displaced people.

Syria’s al-Hol houses tens of thousands of women and children. It is a desert camp run by Syrian Kurdish forces for 60,000 people from more than 60 countries, holding those who have a suspected link to the ISIS

The camp is located in northeastern Syria’s Hasekeh governorate.
