PUK President, Russian Ambassador aspire for expanding relations

SULAIMANI (ESTA) —  President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani received Elbrus Kutrashev, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq on Sunday in Sulaimani’s Dabashan area.

In a meeting, the officials discussed the latest political developments and the formation of the new Iraqi government, Talabani’s office said.

Discussions stressed enduring the talks and coordination to resolve Erbil-Baghdad’s outstanding issues for the sake of the country’s stability.

Speaking about the political situation of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq PUK President said that his party is “eager” to improve people’s livelihood.

“PUK is eager to provide a decent stable life for the people, for that reason, we have done utmost efforts,” President Talabani told Ambassador Kutrashev.

“All of us must work together for the country’s future,” and “we should not sacrifice the high objectives as well as public interests for political conflicts,” Talabani said.

Talabani further said that the new government must be the “protector” of the right of all Iraqi nations, offering service to all individuals without differences, according to his office.

In the meantime, Ambassador Kutrashev has congratulated PUK for the occasion of party’s success in the Iraqi political process especially after it won the President of the republic position recently.

Moreover, Kutrashev hoped this event to be an “encouragement” to resolve the issues, stepping toward working with a constitutional approach.

The two sides have laid emphasis on expanding their relations in the fields of diplomacy, commercial, and cultural in the framework of protecting the high public interests.
