Kurdistan Region announces 640 new coronavirus cases, 21 deaths

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region logged 640 new cases of coronavirus and 21 deaths on Friday, the ministry of health said in a statement.

The Region’s health ministry said 192 cases were recorded in Erbil, 111 in Sulaimani, 22 in Garmian, 255 in Duhok and 60 in Halabja.

The ministry further said it had recorded two new deaths in Erbil, seven in Sulaimani, two in Garmian, two more in Raparin and eight in Duhok.

Up to 270 more patients had recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the ministry added.

The Kurdistan Region’s total number of infections reached 49,134 cases, of which 1,791 died and 31,158 recovered, according to the health ministry.
