Deputy Premier discusses bolstering Sulaimani cultural activities with U.S. CG

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Deputy of the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and U.S. Consul General Irvin Hicks Jr discussed several joint plans, bolstering Sulaimani cultural activities, amid a meeting on Tuesday.

Deputy Premier Qubad Talabani met Hicks Jr, the U.S. Consul General in Erbil, they discussed plans that aim to support Sulaimani, according to a press release from Talabani’s office.

During Discussions, Talabani explained the historical position of Sulaimani and its importance in the field of art and culture for Hicks Jr, the statement said.

Discussions also pointed out plans and ideas that the U.S. and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) would work to develop cultural activities in the Kurdistan Region, particularly in Sulaimani.

The meeting also referred to the U.S.-provided programs of exchanges which more than 18 various ones, the officials discussed them to be utilized to develop Sulaimani cultural activities, according to the statement.

Talabani called for the U.S. to support the KRG in professionalizing art in the Region, he further discussed the importance of that process to Hicks Jr so that the artists can provide their livelihoods in their own professions.
