SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Gas production operation in the Khor Mor field is continuing without interruption, a statement said on Thursday after it came under a rocket attack late Wednesday.
At least eight Katyusha rockets were fired at the Khor Mor natural gas field in Iraq’s Kurdistan region on Wednesday, but the attack did not result in casualties, sources said.
The attack was carried out at approximately 2000 local time. Inside the facility, the United Arab Emirates-based private energy company of Dana Gas operates.
“Last night multiple [Grad] rockets fell near the vicinity of the field without causing casualties,” Dana Gas in a statement said.
“Gas production operation is continuing without interruption,” the statement added.
A local commander from Hashid Shaabi, a state-run umbrella that includes Shi’ite militias, said they found a rocket launcher with a timer fixed on top of a mini-truck in a rural area around 20 km (15 miles) to the southwest of Khor Mor.
Dana Gas started production from Khor Mor in 2008. Recently, during the past few months, the field targeted several times by rockets but none of them were caused serious damage or affected operations.
It’s one of the two biggest fields for natural gas production in Iraq, producing around 452 million cubic feet per day of gas.
